About the meals

Meals are an important focal point of a high school. Teachers and students eat together, building informal community. 

As a rule, three main meals and three snacks are served each day.

  • Breakfast buffet
  • Morning rolls with fruit and vegetables
  • Lunch with salad buffet
  • Afternoon refreshment
  • Cold and hot dinner with salad bar
  • Evening refreshments


We have a delicious salad buffet and vegetables for lunch and and there is always the possibility to eat fruit and vegetables for breakfast and all snacks.

Bread and cakes are baked in-house.

It runs weekly meat-free days with several good vegetarian dishes and has a weekly fish day.

Our kitchen staff are some of the most popular people at the school. They take pride in preparing healthy, varied and tasty food that appeals to all the senses.

Mariager Højskole's kitchen can take into account special allergies or dietary considerations. Please inform us of this when registering.

Mariager Højskole is the proud holder of the Elite Smiley under all food controls from the Ministry of Food.

Climate and kitchen

Our kitchen strives to source products that are local and sustainable. We try to keep up with developments in commodity and food production, in terms of production methods, freight, climate footprint and healthy eating policies.

Mariager Højskole's kitchen specialises in minimal food waste.
