Environment &
facilities

Overlooking Mariagerfjord and a stone's throw from the forest, the school is the perfect opportunity to get MAX out of the natural surroundings. Running, winter swimming, campfires, long, good talks or prayer under the tree crowns.

As a student it is possible to get 1st, 2nd and 3rd man rooms, and for families we have some apartments with private kitchen and bathroom. The school has a large newly renovated living room, with plenty of space to enjoy a cup of coffee from the school's many free coffee machines, or from our Italian espresso machine. There is also a TV, pool table, table tennis table and a new student kitchen.

In addition, you can let loose in the school's music studio, library, conversation rooms and classrooms. At the school you will find a modern gym and sauna for free use, as well as a large indoor sports hall with two tracks and a climbing wall. The school also has a football pitch and a beach volleyball court.

The school is in the middle of some of Denmark's most beautiful nature, with fantastic opportunities for long walks, swimming, running, kayaking and mountain biking.

In the middle of
nature

Welcome to the City of Roses, Mariager. The best things about Mariager are the beautiful scenery, the charming cobbled streets, the harbour area and obvious places to visit within walking or driving distance. In addition to the beautiful fjord, you can explore the many wooded areas that surround the town. Visit the Salt Centre with exhibition, hot salt pool and a delicious café. Rema 1000 and SuperBrugsen are within walking distance of the school. The town also has a bakery, pharmacy, second-hand shop, library, pizzeria and several small shops and eateries. In summer, it is a MUST to eat ice cream at the waffle bakery on the square, visit the beach area and the fjord's many activities.

Challenges

Throughout the year, you can sign up for a variety of monthly outdoor challenges. From survival treks to fjord crossings to pilgrimages. Some will push your limits, test your courage and pressure test your endurance... while others will take you around corners of regions that even the native locals have yet to discover. All will give you great stories to tell when you get home.

Weekends, parties and adventures

Don't miss the weekends, where the rich life of a Folk High School continues. There's extra time for activities such as excursions, parties, debates, competitions or whatever the teachers and students come up with. The school has minibuses and cars available to take you on adventures in North and Central Jutland.

Winter bathing

As a student you have free access to the winter swimming paradise and sauna with shower. No queuing or waiting - just the joy of feeling the cold, warmth and endorphin rush all winter long.

Nature

Mariager's surroundings are a natural gem of forest, fjord and meadows, inviting for hiking, shelter overnight stays or mountain biking. Mariager fjord also offers trout fishing in a class of its own... several of the best fishing spots are within walking distance from the school.

Thank you for signing up!
